Trivia

• He had been a fan of anime since grade school, especially Pokémon and Rika Matsumoto’s performance as Satoshi (Ash Ketchum) would inspire him to become a voice actor. By junior high, Sakai had assumed it was an impossible dream and it wasn’t until he watched anime at night during his time as a salaryman that he would quit and seriously try voice acting.
• In 2020, he won the Game Award at the 14th Seiyuu Awards.
• During a segment in Spring Party 2024, Sakai stated his favorite Spring Troupe play theme song is Bokura no Kizuna.
